The Santa Barbara High School Alumni Association maintains the Veterans' Memorial, which is located to the right of JR Gymnasium. Text at the top of the memorial: At Santa Barbara High School, founded in 1875, some of the history we teach was made by the students we taught. The students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Santa Barbara High School dedicate this memorial to celebrate the lives and to honor the memory of alumni who gave their lives in the line of duty, in war and in peace, while serving with the armed forces of the United States of America. It is requested that names be added to this memorial if it becomes necessary. Text at the bottom of the memorial: "We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain." --Address by President Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, November 19, 1863. Dedicated November 10, 1998, on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I, November 11, 1918.
